Ultra-low flush toilets are required in all new construction in California as of January, 1992. This statewide requirement was passed to promote water conservation.

These toilets look similar to the older toilets but use a more advanced flushing mechanism which allows them to use only 1.6 gallons per flush or less.

A typical family can save more than 25 percent of water used inside the home by replacing a pre-1994 toilet with a ULFT model.

Will I need to flush more than once? top
Double flushing is seldom needed. But when necessary, two flushes use less water than a conventional toilet uses in one flush. Although it is true the first low flush toilets that were designed did not operate as efficiently. Manufacturers have since redesigned these toilets and they have proven to be excellent, state-of-the-art toilets.
